GM surprised everyone today when it announced that the 2012 Buick Regal GS's turbocharged 2.0-liter ECOTEC engine would produce 270 Horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, compared to the 255-hp that was originally announced. With its standard automatic transmission, the Regal GS can run from 0 to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds, while getting 28 mpg on the highway.
It rides lower than the standard Regal and offers three driving modes: GS (the sportiest), Standard and Sport (slots between the GS and Standard).
These are some impressive numbers for the Regal GS, although it should be a bit faster. Nevertheless, I hear that its engine produces more horsepower than the Acura TSX V6, Audi A4, Lexus IS250 and the Volvo S60 T5. Chances are, it will also be more fuel-efficient than the cars listed.
