Holden Barina, Chevy Sonic Clone

Does the Holden Barina look famaliar. It should because it's essentially our Chevrolet Sonic (or the next Chevy Aveo, as the rest of the world is concerned)with a badge change -- that's all, little else. There is nothing wrong with that because GM's latest subcompact will be one of the best-looking cars in its class. You may disagree, of course.

Chevy Colorado Rally Concept

The Chevrolet Coloeado is definately not a fovorite with buyers and GM alike, hence why little empahsis is placed on it. However, GM is shifting the focus of the next-generation Colorado from the domestic market to the global market. Hell, there is a strong chance that it will never see the day of light in North American.

Recently, GM revealed the Colorado Rally Concept at the Buenos Aires International Motor Show, showcasing what production version would look like. Of course, this rally version has add features -- for the beaten path -- that may not be standard on the base model. Should GM bring it North America?

Chevy Cobalt Lives on in South America

Yup, the dreaded Chevy Cobalt that we thought was put down for good has resurfaced in South America. I guess GM wanted a fresh start for the Cobalt name. The car pictured -- a "concept" -- is essentially production ready is actually very similar in size to the Chevy Sonic we're getting here. Not only doe it look very different from our old Cobalt on the outside, but its interior looks more upscale. Hopefully these improvements make it more of a success in South America than the Cobalt ever was in North America.

2012 Buick Regal GS Gets 270 Horsepower

GM surprised everyone today when it announced that the 2012 Buick Regal GS's turbocharged 2.0-liter ECOTEC engine would produce 270 Horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, compared to the 255-hp that was originally announced. With its standard automatic transmission, the Regal GS can run from 0 to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds, while getting 28 mpg on the highway.

It rides lower than the standard Regal and offers three driving modes: GS (the sportiest), Standard and Sport (slots between the GS and Standard).

These are some impressive numbers for the Regal GS, although it should be a bit faster. Nevertheless, I hear that its engine produces more horsepower than the Acura TSX V6, Audi A4, Lexus IS250 and the Volvo S60 T5. Chances are, it will also be more fuel-efficient than the cars listed.

Chevrolet Cruze Outsells Toyota Corolla

You read that right -- the Chevy Cruze has officially outsold a leading Japanese compact car, the Toyota Corolla, in April 2010. The Cruze attained a 14.2 percent share in the segment compared to the Corolla's 13.88%. Unfortunately, the Honda Civic, with 15.41 percent share, managed to barely beat GM's compact car. Nevertheless, is this a sign of things to come? Will the Japanese automakers lose their top spots in the coming months? Only time will tell...

Cadillac Getting a New Convertible

There is no doubt that GM is serious about turning Cadillac into a serious luxury sports brand that can go toe-to-toe with ze Germans. In addition to a series of new vehicles, the automaker now plans to build a convertible that will slot between the current CTS and the upcoming ATS compact sports sedan. Do you think this is a good idea?
